Philosophy, Belief, and Methodology

In order to develop the student percussionist into a skilled musician, the studio feels that the following philosophies should and must be a part of the student's studio experience.

Performance and Teaching
Both performance and teaching should include all areas of percussion. Our instruction is provided by Stan Head who has extensive performance experience.

Curriculum
Mid-South Percussion Productions develops a course of study that is custom tailored to each students goals and abilities. The curriculum is written in a semester environment and provides the young percussionist with freedom of expression, opportunities to pose questions, and a forum for expounding upon ideas. Also, of importance, once we have demonstrated that we can expedite the student in improving his performance level, we ask the student to reassess his or her goals based on the new opportunities that the student now has.

Research
The Private studio has access to a multitude of percussion literature, which Stan Head uses to plan through and develop custom-tailored lesson plans for each student.

Instruments
As tools of the trade, the quality of the instrument on which to study and perform is of the critical importance, therefore, the studio uses only professional percussion equipment.

Communication
As an art, industry, or activity, there is a strong motivation among those involved to know what others in the field are doing, and the studio exposes the student to the diversity and richness of the musical world.
