Stan Head founded Mid-South Percussion Productions in 1981. A native Memphian, he received a Bachelor of Music Education and a Masters of Music Education from Arkansas State University. He has been instructed by teachers such as Jared Spears, former Professor of Percussion and present Chairman of Theory and Composition at Arkansas State University; John Raush, retired Professor of Percussion at Louisianna State University; and Paul Yancich of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Head is active as a performer, clinician, adjudicator, and timpanist of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra in Jackson, TN. His performance experience includes: the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, the Northeast Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and the Tupelo Symphony Orchestra.
His professional affiliations include: the adjunct faculty of Shelby State Community College, the Percussive Arts Society, Phi Mu Alpha, Kappa Delta Pi, and listed in "Who's Who in Entertainment."
UNION UNIVERSITY, Jackson, Tennessee, 1992 - 1996
Percussion Instructor. Taught private lessons to students majoring or minoring in percussion. Developed a percussion ensemble program and taught the Percussion Methods class to Music Education majors. Performed in faculty recitals. Featured artist with John Raush at the Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies and Union's Lyceum Arts Series.
